China's two Miss World crowns were bought, Miss World is the most corrupt pageant

(Miss World 2012, Wen Xia Yu)

I am now convinced, without a doubt, that the two crowns won by China at Miss World pageant have been bought by the Chinese government or the Chinese people from Julia Morley, the owner of the pageant. I said this because of what I have read from an article published at Globaltimes.cn.

With this being said, my previous notion that Miss World is the most corrupt pageant on earth was just vindicated.

Miss Universe Ecuador 2013 Constanza Baez's transformation

First, Philippines sent their representative to Miss Universe in the person of Miriam Quiambao to Venezuela in 1999 to have her be trained by the famous Osmel Souza who have earned the reputation for having a Midas hand by turning ordinary Venezuelan ladies into doll-like uber gorgeous candidates; and, she ended 1st runner up.

Second, Dominican Republic, in 2003, sent Amelia Vega for training also in Venezuela and she ended up winning as Miss Universe 2003.

Why Did Korinna Kocsis Refuse the Miss Intercontinental Hungary 2013 Title?

This is a follow-up story about Korinna Kocsis, the Hungarian beauty queen who made headlines in the world of pageantry for making a stand and for refusing the title she won in Miss Hungary 2013. I can't think of another contestant in my entire life of stalking updates of any beauty pageants who did the same thing. This makes her an epic!

(Korinna Kocsis, when she won third placer in Miss Hungary 2009. She was awarded the title of Miss Earth Hungary 2009 and went on to Manila, Philippines to compete at Miss Earth 2009.)

Will She Make the Cut for Guyana at Miss World 2013?

Do you still remember that South American candidate who slipped and fell to the floor in her blue evening gown during the preliminary competition of Miss Universe 2012 at Planet Hollywood in Nevada last December?

No More Miss Kosovo at Miss Universe

(Marigona Dragusha in her evening gown during the Miss Universe 2009 in the Bahamas. She was second runner up.)

No more Miss Kosovo at Miss Universe! It's official!

It has been announced by Agron Selimi, the owner of Miss Kosovo Universe pageant that there will be no representative from this tiny country for Miss Universe 2013 to be held in Moscow, Russia.

Oh, yes, it is for this year only. But is this really a big deal?

No More Swimsuit Competition for Miss World 2013

Islamic hardliners vowed Thursday to stop the "immoral" Miss World beauty pageant taking place in Indonesia even after organizers agreed this year's contestants would not wear bikinis.

The Hizb ut-Tahrir group slammed the show as like "selling women's bodies" and threatened to hold demonstrations against it, while a group in the province where the final is due to take place also voiced strong opposition.

Videos of Binibining Pilipinas 2010 Fashion Show

The Philippines is very promising in this year's pageantry because the annual search for the representatives of this country to international pageants has attracted tall and modelesque ladies who are really can walk the walk. Binibining Pilipinas 2010 is the strongest batch I have seen so far. I admit it's very hard to pick the best choices for Misses Universe, World and International.

To give you an idea about the catwalk skills of the girls, here are videos (courtesy of mabuhaybeauties.com)of the fashion show which was held the other day in Gatewall Mall in Cubao, Quezon City.

How is Priscilla Lee connected to Pamela Bianca Manalo?

What is the connection of Priscilla Lee, the current Miss Aruba Universe, to Miss Philippines Universe 2009 Pamela Bianca Manalo?

They are both younger sisters of two Miss World candidates. In 2001, Aruba was represented by Zizi Lee and became 1st runner-up. In 2002, the Philippines was represented by Kate Manalo who finished as one of the finalists.

Zizi went on to compete in Miss Universe 2004 but was unplaced. Kate, on the other hand, had never a chance to compete again internationally.

Then in Miss Universe 2009, Kate's younger sister, Pamela Bianca Manalo, became Philippines' representative. This coming Miss Universe 2010, Zizi's younger sister Priscilla Lee will represent Aruba.

Will Priscilla place higher than Bianca Manalo like what her sister did over Kate? Or will she go home unsuccessful like Bianca?

Winner of Miss Germany 2010, Anne Julia Hagen, is going to Miss Earth and not Misses World nor Universe

Miss Berlin Anne Julia Hagen was crowned Miss Germany 2010 last Saturday, February 13th at Europapark Rust. And she is going to Miss Earth 2010 and not Miss World as it used to be nor Miss Universe.

Miss Germany is the most prestigious national pageant in Germany. This year's edition, the pageant attracted many beautiful and stunning girls. I hope I can collect all the contestants' pictures so that you can verify my claim. I will try to do that.

Before, the winner of this pageant was usually sent to Miss World until it stopped few years back. Luckily, the organizer was able to get the franchise of Miss Earth so the winner is going to Vietnam later this year to compete for the 10th edition of the eco-themed international grandslam pageant.

Anne Julia is a strong favorite for Miss Earth as early as now. Pageant fans are echoing Germany is already assured of a semi-final slot. This is a good indication and if this will happen, this will be Germany's first in this pageant.

But Anne Julia should not relax with this compliments. She should tone down her body since she has the tendency to look heavy or fat in some pictures. But her face is definitely beautiful.

22 girls competed at the pageant and 1st runner-up was given to 20-year old Albana Nocaj, Miss Baden-Württemberg. 2nd runner-up was 24-year old Reingard Hagemann, Miss Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

How did the long gowns of Dayana Mendoza and Stefania Fernandez influence other countries like Wales and Poland?

I was inspired by the turn out of comments on this post I have written about the identical gowns of Miss Philippines and Miss Venezuela during the Miss Universe 2008 in Vietnam. The similarity is more on the cuts of the gowns.

Because of this post, I have realized how strong Venezuela is in influencing other countries when it comes to pageantry. The long gowns of Dayana Mendoza and Stefania Fernandez, the back-to-back Miss Universe winners from Venezuela for 2008 and 2009, have been the inspirations of other countries. Poland and Wales (United Kingdom) copied the designs of the gowns for their representatives to Miss World and Miss Earth respectively.

Although this act of copying designs is a fashion crime, I am more curious to know the feelings or reactions of the girls who were forced to wear these gowns. Did they wear it with pride and confidence? Did it affect their performances?

For comparison, the next two pictures are Dayana Mendoza (first) in her yellow gown and Stefania fernandez (second) in her red gown.

Now, here is Miss Wales Dominique Dryer during the preliminary evening gown competition of Miss Earth 2009 in Manila. The gown is exactly the same with Dayana's gown except that she changed the color to pink.

On the other hand, Miss Poland Anna Jamróz paraded in Miss World 2009 with a gown which was obviously a fusion of the gowns of Dayana and Stefania. The upper part of the gown is patterned from Dayana's while the lower part is copied from Stefania's.

Miss Universe 2010 contestants arrive in Venezuela

Miss Universe 2010 will come in your television either in May as it is done traditionally or in September if the rumor is true. But as early as now, 3 delegates who will be competing with each other from 3 Latin American countries have convened in one event in Venezuela. This gathering paved way a chance for the beauty pageant fans around the world to compare the delegates from Venezuela, Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Miss Universe 2009 1st runner-up, Ada Aimee de la Cruz, joined these 3 ladies.

Venezuela will be represented by Marelisa Gibson while Ximena Navarette and Mariana Vicente will be Mexico's and Puerto Rico's representatives respectively.

Now that these 3 ladies are standing side-by-side with each other, we are now opened for more points of comparison. Who do you think is the most beautiful of them all?

I pick Marelisa Gibson and Ximena Navarette of Venezuela and Mexico. I personally believe they are more queenly and poised in these pictures. Facially, these two ladies are also better than Miss Puerto Rico and even Ada of Dominican Republic.

Talking about Ada, why is she wearing her Miss Dominican Republic World crown when she is with Miss Universe contestants? I am referring at the first picture. Have you noticed that?

Would you choose Miss Earth over Miss World?

I am sure you would pick Miss World over Miss Earth if you are asked to choose between the two.

It won't surprise me. Afterall, Miss World is the oldest among all the 4 grandslam pageants while Miss Earth is only celebrating its 10th year anniversary. Julia Morley's pageant has been broadcasted in most parts of the world while Carousel's can only been seen in Philippine television.

Miss World attracts more participating countries every year of around 100 beauties but Miss Earth is catching up with 80 plus girls. Most beauty pageant fans believe Miss World has more beautiful participants than Miss Earth every year. But personally, I believe this is not true especially if we compare the ladies who competed last year in both pageants. Miss Earth had more quality contestants than Miss World. In fact, Miss Earth produced the most competitive and most stunning girls in the Top 5 of any international pageants last year.

If most of us will choose Miss World, Vietnam did the exact opposite over the question on which of the two pageants they will keep to host. The Province of Khan Khao dropped Miss World 2010 but they kept Miss Earth 2010.

This is definitely a blow on Julia's face but a sure victory for the lesser Miss Earth. I can't imagine what Julia might be thinking now but I am sure the Carousel staffs are grinning from ears to ears.

I can only think of one valid reason why Miss Earth was favored. Hosting this pageant is lot cheaper than the USD 10 million Vietnam will be needing to bring Miss World.

With this, I personally believe Khan Khoa just did the most practical thing to do. The Vietnamese government can still market their tourism with Miss Earth with a lesser budget than spend 10 million without a guarantee they can get this back.

So, kudos to Vietnam for the wise decision.

Miss Earth might not be held in Vietnam as earlier reported

There is a good news for the followers of Miss Earth pageant. On it's 10th year anniversary celebration, Miss Earth Organization is stepping up by bringing the pageant outside the Philippines to Vietnam. Let us all celebrate.

Personally, I am happy with this development or this decision by Carousel Productions, the pageant organizer, because this means one thing - the pageant is soaring higher.

Miss Earth is the most bashed pageant because fans see the final production as amateurish and raw. Although, they rank the pageant second to Miss Universe in terms of excitement and promotional activities, the incapability of Miss Earth to broadcast its pageant internationally makes it not at par with the other grandslam pageants like Misses Universe and World.

Well, bringing the pageant to Vietnam this year is the first step for Carousel in marketing Miss Earth to the global audience. It surely creates interest among the Vietnamese. And next year, Vietnamese televisions will be bidding for the right to broadcast it again in their country. And if other countries show signs of interest in hosting the pageant, in a matter of another 10 years, at least, Miss Earth will definitely be giving Misses Universe and World a run of their money.

There are no official statements yet coming from Carousel and Vietnam about holding the pageant in the province of Nha Trang but this report was leaked to fans when a Vietnamese newspaper wrote a contract signing between Miss Earth officials and the sponsors took place in a ceremony in a hotel in Saigon.

But there are some fans who are still skeptical whether Miss Earth will be finally held outside the Philippines. Their fear comes from an incident in the past. In 2005, it was announced by the host that the 2006 edition was going to be held in Chile. But later that year, it was still in Manila.

So, let's wait more developments before we can finally say that Miss Earth is really going to Vietnam.

Perla Beltran, Miss Mexico World, is NOT a goddess!

Ada Aimee de la Cruz, Miss Dominican Republic 2009, is not alone in her current fight against gaining extra weight after her international pageant because Perla Beltran of Mexico who competed in Miss World 2009 is also in the same dilemma.

I posted Ada's "healthy" pictures in this post and it is Perla's turn to be scrutinized.

But I observed one thing. What do Perla and Ada have in common? Well, aside from gaining weight, both of them finished 1st runner-up in their respective international pageants.

Perla was the runner-up of Kaiana Aldorino of Gibraltar, Miss World 2009, and Ada was also the runner-up of Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela, Miss Universe 2009.

Is this their way to protest their losses or is this a result of their frustrations?

Perla Beltran was highly favored by pageant fans all over the world to win the crown during the Miss World pageant in South Africa last month. Some fans even labeled her a goddess of beauty.

But in these pictures taken in one of her modeling assignments, Perla can no longer be called a goddess. Obviously, fats are visible in her hips and thighs. The body is showing no more curves. Not only that, her styling made her look old.

What happened to Ada Aimee de la Cruz, Miss Dominican Republic Universe?

Ada Aimee de la Cruz who represented Dominican Republic in Miss World 2007 and Miss Universe 2009 was the envy of many girls around the globe because of her sexy body. She proved the whole world that she had the best body when she won the title of Miss World 2007 Beach Beauty in Sanya, China. She made the Top 15 of the said pageant.

Also in Miss Universe in August last year in Bahamas, she cemented her reputation as one of the sexiest when she ended a runner-up of the eventual winner, Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela.

But five months after the pageant, Ada is now a picture of a different woman. She obviously gained weight. She lost her sexiness.

Most beauty queens gain weight after their reign especially when there are no major international pageant crowns on their heads. This is because they are not pressured.

This is Miss Dominican Republic 2009 now.

Also read this post on Perla Beltran, Miss World 2009 1st runner-up from Mexico, who is obviously following Ada's footstep. The Mexican beauty queen is also gaining weight.

Venezuela's mother and daughter tandem at Miss World

In 1955, Venezuela participated for the first time at the Miss World pageant in London. Luckily, Carmen Susana Duijm Zubillaga who traveled alone and lost in London won the title - the first of 5 Miss World crowns for this South American country.

Carmen Susana also competed at Miss Universe 1955 and reached the Top 15.

After 28 years in 1983, Carmen Susana's daughter, Carolina Cerruti Duijm, tried to duplicate her mother's achievement also at Miss World but she failed to advance to the finals.

Here are pictures of Carmen Susana during the Miss World 1955:

The Beauty Queen who was pregnant during her Miss World pageant

In 1983, at the Miss World pageant in London, Iceland was represented by Unnur Steinsson who finished as a finalist - 4th runner-up in fact.

22 years later in Sanya, China, Iceland once again made the headlines when a sweet looking girl captured the crown of Miss World 2005. She was Unnur Birna Vilhjalmsdottir, the third woman from her country to be crowned Miss World after Hólmfríður Karlsdóttir in 1985 and Linda Pétursdóttir in 1988

But did you know that Unnur Steinsson is the mother of Unnur Birna? Of course, everybody knows this. They are probably the most successful mother-daughter tandem in a beauty pageant.

But what you probably don't know was Unnur (the mother) was three months pregnant during the pageant in November 1983. And that baby in her womb was the future Miss World Unnur Birna.

Obviously, the mother violated the pageant’s rules and warranted disqualification. But she was not disqualified because this was not found out until after the pageant. This was unfair to the candidate who placed 16th at Miss World 1983 (there were Top 15 at that time).

Unnur Steinsson gave birth on May 25, 1984.

Another trivia: Steinsson also competed in the Miss Young International 1980 held in Manila and was named Miss Mabuhay (Friendship), Miss Punctual and third runner-up. She was also Iceland’s delegate in the Miss Universe 1983 pageant.

Today, mother and daughter both became movie actresses in their country.

The first picture is the mother and the second one is the daughter.

Venezuela is losing its Miss World Charisma

With 17 titles - 6 Miss Universe, 5 Miss World, 5 Miss International and 1 Miss Earth - without a doubt, Venezuela is the the leading powerhouse in beauty pageants!

This decade was very fruitful for this South American nation.

In Miss Universe, they only missed the semifinals twice - 2004 and 2006. But these exclusions were rewarded by back to back titles in 2008 and 2009. Aside from that, all remaining placements of Venezuela were in the Top 5.

Venezuela had some struggles in the first years of Miss Earth. In 2005, Alexandra Braun became the first Venezuelan to enter the semifinals and eventually won. Since then, Venezuela has placed every year.

Miss International proved to be the best pageant for Venezuela this decade - winning 3 titles, 1 first runner up and 4 semifinalists - are proofs that Venezuela occupies the number one spot for the Tokyo-based pageant.

Miss World - this decade they had 5 placements - and the highest was in 2002 - Goizeder Azua's Top 10 finish! Compared to their performance in the 90's, it was really poor. Two winners (1991 and 1995), one 1st runner up (1999), three 2nd runners up (1990, 1992, 1994) and two 4th runners up (1993 and 1996). They only missed the Top 10 in 1997 and 1998 - and the reason was because Venezuela didn't send their national winners to Miss World. This decade, Venezuela did not even make it to the final cut.

What could have been the reasons?

Vanessa Cardenas, Andriena Prieto and Goizeder Azua were not crowned in Miss Venezuela finals instead, Osmel staged a small pageant for Miss World Venezuela 2000 - 2002. Among the three, Goizeder was the most refreshing beauty - something that Miss World is looking for.

In 2003, Miss World Venezuela was back in the top prizes - Valentina Patruno won and became a semifinalist in Miss World 2003.

Andrea Milroy and Susan Carrizo failed in 2004 and 2005. Their beauties aren't really suited for MW.

The Miss World Organization announced that Miss World 2006 would be held in Poland on September 30, three months ahead of schedule. The Miss Venezuela Org. decided to return to the "emergency" system used in 2000-01 and hold a special pageant, Miss World Venezuela 2006. Federica Guzman was the undisputed favourite for the national title, causing the usual controversy, but her performance at Miss World broke the failure streak of her country to classify into the semifinals since the participation of Valentina Patruno in 2003.

Claudia Suarez and Hannelly Quintero continued the streak. But Milagors Veliz broke it again!

Why? Claudia and Hannelly were young and beautiful, Milagros was a bad choice - she was a complete opposite of the two.

The main reason why Venezuela is losing its force in Miss World is because MVO gives a higher importance to Miss Universe than Miss World. And most of the times, their MU delegates were better than their MW representatives. But Julia was kinda fair not to exclude beautiful ladies like Valentina, Federica, Claudia and Hannelly.

Julia doesn't want to be second.

Expect this, if Miss Vnezuela Organization will not do something with it, don't expect the 6th Venezuelan Miss World to be crowned.

Julia is not Eric Morley. Now that the rivalry between Trump and Morley is getting more intense, Venezuela will never advance in the final 5 of Miss World.

For Miss Venezuela Organization - simply send a woman who is beautiful, sweet, young - not a drag queen nor a too polished woman that is more of a Miss Universe material.

Miss India Pooja Chopra might withdraw from Miss World 2009

I've got a report about some fans who are worried that Miss India Pooja Chopra might withdraw from the Miss World 2009 pageant. The competition is taking place in South Africa and in 3 days, the winner will be crowned by the reigning Miss World Ksenia Sukhinova of Russia.

I was informed that Pooja sprained her ankle very badly two days ago. She was sent to the hospital for x-ray. Medical reports say she was not fractured but a cast was put on her leg.

So, does this mean Miss India will walk with the cast on the finals if she is not withdrawing? Sources who are closed to the beauty queen confirmed that the Indian beauty is not withdrawing.

Miss South Africa Tatum Keshwar Brings Miss Universe to Miss World

Everybody, let's take a look back at the last Miss Universe pageant that was held in the Bahamas. Let me refresh your memory about the dress for the opening number. But focus your attention on Miss South Africa Tatum Keshwar. Notice that graceful catwalk with the floral white dress? You only see that on Miss Universe 2009.

After failing to get a title at Miss U, Tatum decided to try her luck at Miss World 2009 which is currently taking place in her home country. She is definitely hoping of getting the title this time around - on her second try. Let's check on how she is doing right now.

Oh, nooo! Have you noticed that? Look at that floral white dress. Was that the one she wore at Miss Universe? I guess so!  Then I was wrong that the dress is exclusive only for Miss Universe.

Does Tatum think she's still competing at Miss Universe and not on Miss World? Or does she run out of dresses? She did not only bring herself from Miss U to Miss World but also the dress she wore from the previous pageant.

Donald Trump and Julia Morley, what do you wanna say about this?
