Miss Texas 2009 is a Filipino National

Aileen Jan Valdehuesa Yap, born October 7, 1988 in Austin, Texas in the United State was recently selected by the National Pageant Director Britt Harrison and other pageant directors from other states of MISS USA INTERNATIONAL as Miss Texas USA 2009.

She is the daughter of Cagayanons Dr. Romeo Sy Yap, a psychiatrist, and Virgincita Baustista Valdehueza Yap, a nurse and the Director and Owner of Virginia's Lakeview Personal Care Home in Texas.

Aileen definitely has the beauty, brains and brawn to represent Texas and run away with the title Miss USA International when she competes in Houston, Texas come July 2009.

She graduated as the Most Outstanding Student at the Sacred Heart School in Conroe, Texas and went on to graduate Summa cum Laude at Willis High School.

Presently, Aileen is a second year college student majoring in Biology with the intention of proceeding to medical school. She wants to be a pediatrician some day.

  5. Just because she has filipino parents doesn't mean she is a filipino national. And stop being proud to be a pinoy , just cause one is a pageant. We can't be proud for one small achievement of one person.

  6. Why are you making a mountain out of this hill?
People before you make comments, try to read the article and the comments here.

To you poster just above me, it has been said that the lady is having dual citizenship. Meaning she holds TWO PASSPORTS. She has a FILIPINO PASSPORT and an AMERICAN PASSPORT so widen your understanding. What does that mean? She is a FILIPINO NATIONAL as well as an AMERICAN NATIONAL. Is that hard to grasp?

I've read the article many times and I can't see any words from the blogger that she is so proud of the beauty queen.

Im a Filipino too but I am not proud of this. So why make an issue out of nothing?

  9. I noticed that a lot of people are making this as a big issue. As far as I know, she was Born here in USA,but then she also considered herself to be a filipina, that's why she Got a dual citizenship. But still regardless of what her origin is,she was american citizen because she was born in U.S.Consider this big fact..She deserve this title.Godbless aileen!

Wow, someone's a bit jealous... And if you're going to criticize a woman you've never met, at least spell correctly and use correct grammar...

To you poster of the enclosed comment below. Did you actually seen her whoring? Now,if you can't prove it and accept the fact that she has brain and beauty which is btw proven so ZIP it. You are just jealous! Grow up!

  17. She looks like she has some African genes in her. Maybe her mother had an affair with a "big" black man sometime late December '87 or early January '88, took it deep and "tadaaa" AJ was conceived. So, although her mother is Filipino (with some Chinese ancestry, it looks like), African-Americans should be proud as well.

  19. yep .. there's something wrong with this title.
she has filipino in her blood, but as far as the united states is concerned, she is an american.

sometimes, nationality and citizenship is mixed up. but nevertheless,
best wishes to you Miss Eileen Yap.

  20. Congratulations to AJ. I know that her family is very proud of her and her accomplishments.

I am appalled by the malicious words written about the AJ and her family. I know them personally as family friends from childhood.
