Japan is now back in the map of beauty pageants. Thanks to Riyo Mori's fantastic performance during the Miss Universe 2007 in Mexico which won her the title and became Japan's second Miss Universe after a very long 48-year drought in pageantry.
Japan first won the Miss Universe back in 1959 in the person of Akiko Kojima.
The success of Japan nowadays is anchored on the expertise of Frenchwoman, Ines Ligron who succeeded in developing world-class Japanese beauty queens.
Now, that this country is about to select their representative to the Miss Universe 2009 in Bahamas, let's take a look on some of the front-runners in this year's Miss Japan Universe pageant.
