Miss Sergipe, Isabel Correia Wins Best Model Brazil

Miss World Brazil 2009 continues to narrow down the competition by picking its fourth semi-finalist with the conclusion of the Best Model Brazil contest, one of the five fast track events, with Miss Sergipe, Isabel Correia, winning the award.

The event was held at the Novo Frade Hotel. 38 beauties paraded in outfits created by Elaine Henrique.

First Runner-Up went to Miss Acre, Karine Osório and the Second Runner-Up was given to Miss Rio Grande do Norte, Daliane Menezes.

Miss Acre, Karine Osorio was also a finalist at the Beach Beauty contest which was won by Miss Rio de Janeiro, Mariana Notarangelo.

The pageant will be concluded on Sunday, 5 July 2009. The winner will go to Miss World 2009 pageant in Johannesburg, South Africa and London to represent Brazil.

Miss Universe 2009 goes back to Top 10 format

No more Top 15 or Top 20 at the Miss Universe 2009. Instead, only the Top 10 will be called at the finals.

This is the message sent to us by a very good friend. He forwarded to me a message he copied from a Puerto Rican pageant forum. He forgot to name the said forum.

Here is the message.

Miss Universe will return to the popular 90's format of having only a Top 10. The Top 10 will compete in both swimsuit and evening gown. The scores will be averaged out and the Top 5 will be selected.

The producer of Miss Universe, Phil Gurin, affirms that with the return of the individual interviews, will come more "youtube" moments. He also mentioned that with the Top 15 format, it does not allow the public to identify themselves with any of the contestants, which has been reflected on the ratings each year.

Rachael Kum Wins Miss Singapore 2009

Rachael Kum, 24, is the winner of Miss Singapore 2009 that was held on Saturday night, May 9, at Shangri-La Hotel's Island Ballroom. She will represent this tiny Asian state at the Miss Universe 2009 which will be held at the Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas on August 23.

The victory was not an easy win for Rachael who went against all odds. Prior to the coronation, she was mired in a controversy when she was accused by many including fellow contestants of allegedly skipping the preliminary audition rounds and compulsory activities.

Rachael is a manager in the medical industry. She stands 1.71 m. She also bagged two minor awards - The Most Body Beautiful and Miss Personality.

I just don't understand how she managed to get the award of Miss Personality if she has been accused by her fellow contestants of being prima donna.

Miss Singapore 2009, who was a former New Face finalist won $5,000 in cash, a trophy and products and services from the sponsors.

First runner-up is April Wang and second runner-up is Cheryl Wee.
