Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin re-appeared on the national stage tonight, jumping to the defense of a beauty pageant contestant who has been at the center of a media feeding frenzy in recent days.

"The liberal onslaught of malicious attacks against [Miss California] Carrie Prejean for expressing her opinion is despicable," said Palin in a statement. Palin added that she spoke to Prejean soon after the beauty queen said publicly that she believed she had lost the Miss USA competition due to her answer to blogger -- and contest judge -- Perez Hilton that marriage is between a man and a woman.

"What I find so remarkable is that these politically-motivated attacks fail to show that what Carrie and I believe is also what President Obama and Secretary Clinton believe --- marriage is between a man and a woman," Palin added. "Our Constitution protects us all -- not just those who agree with the far left."

The Alaska governor and former vice presidential candidate has struggled to balance her current job with her ambitions on the national stage. The latest example: She was expected to attend the White House Correspondents Dinner last weekend but canceled at the last minute to attend to flooding in the Last Frontier. (The First Dude -- Palin's husband Todd -- did attend the dinner.)

I know Sarah Palin or Sarah Heath during her Miss Alaska 1984 moments is one of the most watched political candidates not only in the United States of America but all over the world.

While Sarah is preparing for the election, a new video has surfaced showing the former beauty pageant contestant playing the flute for the talent portion of the 1984 Miss Alaska competition.

In the video, the announcer introduces Palin by saying: "An accomplished flautist who has been performing for 10 years. She will be performing "The Homecoming" as written by Nathan Hardy."

She is not just a former beauty queen but she is about to become the second most powerful person on the world's most powerful country.

Her name is Sarah Palin. She placed second during the Miss Alaska 1984 beauty pageant. Now at 44, she made history as the first woman on a Republican presidential ticket when Sen. John McCain announced on August 29 that she would be his vice presidential running mate.

Luckily, An Alaskan has uploaded what he claims to be actual footage of Palin in a red tanksuit, strutting her stuff in the 1984 Miss Alaska beauty pageant. The emcee introduces her, reads her bio and compliments her leadership.

The emcee is heard saying, "Sarah says she wants to prepare for a career in television broadcasting by majoring in telecommunications and political science. It is no wonder that she has also been recognized by 'Who's Who?' since she has displayed her leadership in all areas, from academics to student politics to athletics... Ladies and gentlemen, contestant No. 8, Sarah Heath."
