Pamela Bianca Manalo's Official Long Gown

Miss Philippines Universe 2009 Pamela Bianca Manalo's official evening gown is now out in the internet. It was shared to us by certain Gerardito Jr for Missosology.

While the long gown is definitely far better than the gowns worn by the previous Misses Philippines Universe, I still feel there is missing on it. I guess it does not emphasize the long legs Bianca has. Or is it because she has also a longer torso? Or the slit of the gown is a little bit lower? Or the gown should be a little longer? I don't know since I am not good in designing gowns. Maybe you can help me figure it out.

But we have to commend the effort of Binibining Pilipinas and Alfredo Barraza, who this time, listened a little to the clamour of many Filipino pageant lovers of having a decent dresses for Miss Philippines. Though it is not yet maximized, the effort is there and why only now?

In these pictures of Bianca, I can say she is kinda prepared for the pageant. I also can see three past Miss Philippines Universe in her. She has the Geraldine Asis (Miss Universe 1987 semi-finalist) vibe. She has the poise of Miriam Quiambao (Miss universe 1999 first runner-up) and the vibrancy of Maricar Balagtas, Miss Philippines Universe 2004.

Pamela poses like Miriam with her long arms. She is trying to make her shoulder broader to highlight the curves of her body. Nice work Pamela and hope you will improve more.

By the way, is she arriving in Bahamas with this cool summer outfit?

Here is Pamela in her long gown.

Miss Philippines national costume is Flores-de-Mayo inspired

The national costume of Miss Philippines Universe Pamela Bianca Manalo is a Flores-de-Mayo-inspired outfit made by Maestro Alfredo Barraza.

Stone, a Colombian who had the privilege to attend the photo shoot of Pamela with the costume in Bogota posted some of the pictures in a Colombian message board. Thanks to P.E of Philippine Beyond for the heads up.

Stone had only nice words for Pamela who he thinks a Top 5 Miss Universe material. In Spanish, Stone said that Pamela is a beautiful woman with fine features, nice body, porcelain skin, long legs, sexy, well-prepared, intelligent and spiritual.

The dress sleeves are richly embroidered with crystals and filigree tinsel on white and silver lace. The skirt of spiral flowers is in organza ribbons in different colours. A beautiful square umbrella accompanies the sumptuous design and also make glass combs adorn the sophisticated hairstyle.

All the best for Miss Philippines Pamela Bianca Manalo.

Miss Philippines Pamela Bianca Manalo's Disastrous Long Gown

One of our readers who is also a missosology poster prompted us about Miss Philippines Pamela Bianca Manalo's evening gown for the Miss universe 2009 pageant.

The gown is definitely disastrous and this won't help Pamela enters the semis. The gown is 70-ish. The leak came supposedly from a Colombian who is associated with Alfredo Barrazza, the designer.

If this is really her official long gown, then Philippines never learned their lesson.

Confirmed: Misses Philippines and Colombia are roommates in Bahamas

It's confirmed. Miss Philippines Universe Pamela Bianca Manalo and Miss Colombia Michelle Rouillard will be roommates in Bahamas during the Miss Universe 2009 stint.

Was this possible through Stella Marquez Araneta, Philippine Director for Miss Universe, who is a Colombian? We are just asking.

What's funny here is that Misses Colombia and Philippines will be wearing gowns and traditional costumes made by only one designer, Alfredo Barraza of Colombia. Will they be ripping the Barraza beads on each other's gowns? We are just kidding.

Aside from Pamela Bianca and Michelle, other roomies are Miss USA Kirsten Dalton and Miss Australia Rachael Finch; Miss Honduras Belgica Suarez and Miss Guatemala Lourdes Figueroa; and, Miss Switzerland Whitney Toyloy and Miss Thailand Chutima Durongdej.

Recycled Gowns and National Costumes for Misses Philippines

When the Philippine representatives to international pageants started to dress by a Colombian famous designer, the Filipino beauty pageant fans started to cry dissatisfaction as manifested in almost all beauty pageant forums. Obviously, they are not happy with the thought of having a foreigner dressing their own representative. For them, it is a clear insult to the ingenuity of the Filipino people. The abundance of local talents who have better gown creations and ideas is put into waste.

The Colombian designer is Alfredo Barraza, a long time friend of the Philippine National Director for Misses Universe, World and International - Stella Marquez Sawadzky Araneta. Stella Araneta is a native of Colombia who became the first winner of Miss International in 1960. This explains her connection to Barraza.

One of the reasons of the clamour is the fact that they are just recycling the gowns and national costumes of the Misses Philippines every year. I said this is a fact because I myself seen these recycled gowns and national costumes.

This is Karen Loren Agustin during the 2002 Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico. The gown looks good on Karen who also carried the gown amazingly.

In 2006, in Los Angeles, California, Lia Andrea Ramos wore the same gown in one of the Miss Universe functions.

That same year (2006), it was again wore by Denille Lou Valmonte during the Miss International pageant in Japan.

After barely two months, it was again seen at the 2006 Miss World in Poland. This time it was Ana Maris Igpit who took it center stage.

Moving on to national costume, this is Miriam Quiambao during the 1999 Miss Universe pageant in Trinidad and Tobago. She ended up first runner up.

In 2001 in Japan during the Miss International pageant, Maricarl Tolosa sported it. She went on unplaced.

In Panama during the 2003 Miss Universe pageant, Carla Gay Balingit wowed the audience with her pineapple-inspired costume. Let's reverse it this time. She was unplaced.

In 2005 during the Miss International pageant in Japan, Precious Lara Quigaman wowed the judges with same national costume and she went on to win the title as Miss International 2005.

Also in that same year (2005) at the Miss Universe pageant in Bangkok, Thailand, Gionna Jimenez Cabrera delighted the universe with a Maria Clara-inspired costume. She made it to the Top 5 Best in National Costume.

That following year in the Miss International 2006 in Japan, Denille Lou Valmonte did not only wear the infamous red gown initially wore by Karen Loren Agustin but she also tried this national costume wore by Gionna Cabrera in the Miss Universe e2005 .
